Wismar is currently witnessing the construction of a new logistics centre for Friesland-Kabel GmbH, a Klaus Faber AG group company. The topping out was celebrated on 07/12/2018.
"We are delighted by this new business establishment here in Wismar. It shows that the Hanseatic City is a highly attractive location", explained the Director of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's State Chancellery, State Secretary Reinhard Meyer, in his speech, adding that Wismar was also chosen as a location for the new logistics centre because of its proximity to the MV shipyards. "The Friesland Kabel example shows that shipbuilding not only creates jobs at the dockyards. The MV shipyards' bias towards cruise liners for the Asian market is currently also ensuring work and jobs for suppliers. And in this case even the settlement of an important supplier at a location in the direct neighbourhood of the dockyard", Meyer continued.
He added that the company supplies cables around the world for shipbuilding projects and the construction of wind energy plants or converter platforms for the offshore wind industry. Today's topping-out ceremony is therefore "a good day for the maritime industry in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern", Meyer said.
The new logistics centre is set to create 29 jobs.
